Julia,
Lavendar seems like such a strange thing to be in food, like chocolate and biscotti! To me it's always connoted flowers, and when I think of making lavendar biscotti, I picture mixing flower petals into a batter. What does it taste like?

Over a year ago I bought AGT11. When she arrived and I opened the box, all of a sudden I discovered she was French. So I didn't know her name for some time and she couldn't communicate with my other dolls.

Well that little French surprise is turning into a rather extensive education. I've become fascinated with all things French. I'm slowly learning French, discovering French cuisine, and finding out that France is a perfect homeland for Violette.

Violette was born in America to a French father and American mother and grew up in France with her parents. Her father's job brought the family to America when Violette was 9 years old. She is learning English and introducing her new friends to all sorts of French delights.

Have any of you found a doll's history triggered a greater interest in you that grew bigger than just playing with AG dolls? Whether or not my dolls get into a French story, I really am fascinated with all things French now. Fun! And today a little package arrived with Violette's little stuffed fox and sheep from her favorite book - Le Petit Prince. And later today we'll enjoy the Claissons (almond and lemon nougats) and Biscuit Rose (rose and almond cookies) with tea.

Tomorrow a package is arriving with a couple french lavender products (soap, lavender chocolate and lavendar biscotti). Violette's family markets lavender products made from their own lavender fields in France. Violette's parents just opened up a little boutique in America that sells lavender and other French items.

Violette sounds cool - and so does your half Italian girl, Katie 148. I got Kirsten from ebay - but my blond blue-eyed friend, I now find, is actually from Poland. She's very shy and speaks little to no english. In any rate, I've become very interested in learning more about Polish customs (part of my heritage as well) and traditions. Seeking the information and learning has taken on a life of its own. I have fabric and plans to make outfits and I want to write stories for my friend (she has yet to tell me her name). Everything is in my brain - all I need is the time to write it down. This is a wonderful something that I would like to pass on to my children (someday) or, god willing, my grandchildren.

I have ideas for others that I'd like to add to my collection. But I just think that it is so cool (and inspirational to hear what others have done) that these lovely dolls take on special and really unique lives.
